About Toucan

Toucan Day Nursery is a community neighbourhood Nursery. Our building was originally an old public house, now converted to an Education and Day care centre.
We are very close to bus routes and a Bethnal Green Tube Station is only five to ten minutes away.

We were funded by the Big Lottery Fund, The Neighbourhood Nursery Initiative (NNI) and Sure Start.

We cater for children 0-5 years old. We are keen to help all families of different backgrounds.

We are committed to work positively with families of the local community by giving opportunities for full or part time employment (voluntary or paid) and training opportunities with us.

All parents/carers will have a safe, relaxed and comfortable day care for their children. There will also be a small room where parents can use.
The classrooms will be spacious with full learning facilities for the children.
A separate and safe outdoor facility will be provided for parents/carers to store their buggies/prams.

Fully qualified staff are on duty at all times.
The Early Years curriculum goals are followed, including many, multi-cultural activities.

Our Accommodation

Our nursery is accommodated on three floors - first floor, ground floor and basement for storage only.   It is clean, safe and bright. Our wall displays, toys and equipment show people and events from a wide range of cultures; we value these cultural differences highly.   Our building has many safety features, including CCTV and an intercom system at the main entrance door. The nursery door is kept securely locked.   There is ample space for children to play with lots of storage space for equipment and toys to minimise clutter. We have a secure pram/buggy area.  We now have a designated outside play area fully equipped.

.

Access Security

The nursery is fully alarmed which is accessed via intercom entry system, it is also linked to the emergency services. We have security lighting in operation throughout the night.
